Every time you look at your phone while driving, you put lives at risk including yours, your passengers’, and everyone else on the road. It only takes a split second of distraction for a normal day to turn into a tragedy.
Stay focused. Stay safe. Don’t text and drive.

New Pennsylvania Law: What Drivers Need to Know
As of June 5, 2025, Pennsylvania has enacted a stricter distracted driving law aimed at keeping drivers’ hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
Here’s what the new law means for you:
No hand-held phone use while driving including texting, scrolling, or even holding your phone at a red light.
Hands-free devices only are allowed while operating a vehicle.
Emergency calls (like 911) are permitted.
There’s a one-year grace period with warnings only. After that, violators will face fines starting at $50 and potentially more serious consequences if an accident occurs.
If a crash caused by distracted driving results in a death, penalties can include up to five years in prison.
This law is named in memory of a young man who lost his life due to a distracted driver, and it serves as a powerful reminder that no message is worth a life.
Why It Matters
Distracted driving has become one of the leading causes of crashes in Pennsylvania. Texting takes your eyes off the road for an average of five seconds. At 55 mph, that's like driving the length of a football field blindfolded.
And it's not just texting. Changing music, checking social media, or using GPS apps by hand can be just as dangerous.
Make Safe Driving a Habit
Use “Do Not Disturb While Driving” features on your phone.
Set up your GPS or playlist before you start driving.
Keep your phone out of reach, or better yet, out of sight.
If it can wait, let it wait.
Let’s commit to making our roads safer for ourselves and for everyone around us. Because one text can wreck it all.
Stay focused. Stay safe. Don’t text and drive.
